Parking

Parking has always been an issue on Juniata Terrace because it is so limited.  There is no personal parking space issued to residents, including handicapped parking.  Residents may request that the Mayor grant a handicapped parking space in front of their home, but this is not specific to an individual resident.

If you are attending any events at the lower playground please be sure to park in a parking place. Do not park in the areas where curbs are painted yellow, on the grass, or in front of the school where it is listed NO PARKING AT ANY TIMES.

THE OWNER OF ANY VEHICLE BEARING A HANDICAPPED PLATE OR PARKING PLACARD MAY UTILIZE THE HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE.

Elected officials cannot regulate neighborhood courtesy, but strongly encourage neighbors to act appropriately and take care of each other.  As a reminder, especially to the residents of the first block of Terrace Boulevard, there is overflow parking allowed at the old school building and in the area near Wilson’s Meats and Groceries. Please note Wilson’s parking lot is for customers only. Any resident who is found parking there will risk having your vehicle towed at the owners expense.

All Trailers (being any wheeled vehicle without its own locomotive power), truck trailers, boats, buses, motor homes, campers, and equipment/machinery should not be parked on the following streets:

  1. Viaduct Way
  2. First Street
  3. Terrace Boulevard
  4. Henderson Way
  5. Third Street
  6. Fourth Street,
  7. Hundson Avenue
  8. Delaware Avenue (Upper & Lower)
  9. Wagner Avenue

Any of the above listed should be parked behind the community building in the stone area near tank hill. Anyone who wishes to park anywhere else must receive written permission from the Juniata Terrace Borough to do so. Anyone who disobeys ordinance 2018-1 risks having their property towed at their own expense.

When parallel parking along the streets, please be sure that the entirety of your vehicle is within the white painted lines. According to PennDOT: “The entire vehicle must be completely inside the space, and you cannot: Make contact with any of the uprights to the rear or front of your vehicle, cross over the painted line, or Go up onto or over the curb.” Failure to park correctly in these spaces could result in a $15.00 parking ticket from the Codes Enforcement officer. Failure to pay within 5 Calendar days will result in the ticket being taken to District Magistrate’s office.

Please call the office with any questions.
