100th Year Ground Breaking Ceremony
Friends of Juniata Terrace,
The Borough of Juniata Terrace is pleased to invite you to attend a Commemorative Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, June 23th, 2023 at 10:00 AM. This event will celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the building of the homes at Juniata Terrace.
By 1925, the building of Juniata Terrace was completed and the 250 homes were occupied by workers, and their families, of the American Viscose plant. The community was supported by two stores and an elementary school, with a church built later.
Juniata Terrace is a walk back in time, existing entirely as it was designed and constructed in the early 1920’s. It is a rarity for any industrial village to flourish 100 years after its origin. The vibrancy of Juniata Terrace now carries the community into its second century.
Our community is proud to serve as one of the few original industrial villages of the American Viscose Corporation. This unique community afforded us the opportunity to become our own Borough in 1967. Since its construction, Juniata Terrace has contributed to the economic and social fiber of Lewistown and Mifflin County.
The celebration will be held at the school playground along Viaduct Way. We will be most honored for you to join us in this celebration. Please RSVP to the Borough Office no later than June 16th, 2023.
Best Regards,
Mayor John Wagner
